We are proud to offer an imaginative Christian education program for children and youth in collaboration with our sister congregation St. Aidan’s. Jacqueline Pennington, our gifted music director, is our Children’s Education Coordinator, and is staying on a second year, providing continuity for our children. Classes meet each Sunday morning after worship during the school year (11:15 a.m. to noon), and are taught in a one-room school house model, with all the children learning together. In this setting, the older children often offer mentorship and help to the younger children. Our curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit, follows the liturgical year, and allows the children to connect what they are learning in “the big church upstairs” with the stories, practices, and activities that they engage in downstairs. The children’s education room has been recently renovated as a reflection of our church’s emphasis on the sacred value of the children within our congregation.
