Over the past few years we have had formal and informal engagement in supporting and forming opportunities to engage in social witness, particulalry around LGBTQIA+ ministries.
We have proudly had a longtime presence at Ann Arbor Pride. Recently, in 2023 we started handing out hundreds of flags — our “Need a Flag, Take a Flag” response to recurrent vandalism of our church pride flags. (More Details here).
In 2024, we expanded our Pride celebration involvement to include hosting a booth where we invite anyone and everyone to create a Prayer for Pride Flag (think Tibetan style prayer flags) that we string together and fly at the booth to celebrate and uplift one another at the event, and then we use these flags to adorn our sanctuary space for the coming months.
We also have been raising our voices in advocacy of Trans Rights, and continue to find more ways to engage others in this type of social witness.
